Hotels for 18- to 20-year-olds in Snowshoe, West Virginia
Snow-capped peaks and year-round adventure make Snowshoe the mountain escape you didn’t know you needed. Unfortunately, if you’re under 21 and exploring solo, most of the action is geared toward older visitors, with few options to join in.
Age policies checked quarterly (January 2026)
Snowshoe is all about hitting the slopes. Nestled in the Allegheny Mountains, the ski resort draws visitors with its powdery runs, snowboarding parks, and cozy mountain lodges. When the lifts stop, you can unwind with scenic walks, or live music in the village.
For under-21 travelers, options at the resort itself are extremely limited. You’ll need to look outside, in nearby locations such as Marlinton, to find 18+ friendly hotels. Your best bet, frankly, is to bring along a 21-year-old friend or relative. We’ve rounded up the spots that welcome younger guests, making it easier to focus on skiing, snowboarding, and enjoying the mountain atmosphere.

1 Mountain Quest Inn Marlinton $$$
Our opinion: Featuring a huge library, game room, pool table, and mountain views, this inn works best as a true off-grid base rather than a standard hotel stop. It’s a good pick for travelers who are heading here to hike, ski, explore Cass or Green Bank, and don’t mind trading Wi-Fi and phone signal for peace and unusual common spaces. The upside is character, quiet, and plenty to do on-site without screens. The caution: this place is remote, amenities can feel limited, and the experience seems much better when you arrive prepared with food plans and low expectations for tech and polished service.
